HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

And for January 2, 2009 (caught up at last!)  From my cactus studies.  We are fortunate in having a saguaro cactus in our yard.  They are protected and are very valuable.  The symbol of the American West, I love my saguaro.  It only has 3 little bitty arms but it is over 100 years old before it starts to get arms.  They weigh thousands of pounds because they are filled with water. So, here is a cactus pic for you.  The other plants, from the bottom up are:  yucca, bougainvillea and Ironwood tree.
