A BOATLOAD OF HANDBLOWN GLASS...

Here is my daily, another Dale Chihuly.  They did such wonderful displays at this exhibit.  I wish I had been able to get back there at night.  All of the exhibits were lighted.  It must have been amazing.

RIGHT ON TIME...

Look at me, it's Friday and I'm right on time.  Yea, me!!  I love architectural photos.  I often times find that I'm drawn to doors, windows, gargoyles, latches, things like that.  This capture is of a doorway to a restaurant in Trevi, Italy.  I thought it had some interesting lines and details.

Can't remember the name of the place, but the food was incredible.

THURSDAY...TA DA!!

It's still snowing.  We're expecting 8-12", and it will probably snow through tomorrow morning.  Thank God, it was warm today, and though it did snow, it melted as it hit the ground.  Otherwise, it would look like this.

LAST WEEK'S SNOW

ALMOST CAUGHT UP...WEDNESDAY

Yes, it's true.  More snow is on the way.  They are predicting 8 - 12".  Here's another snow picture to get us in the mood.

TUESDAY'S IMAGE...

Using the new oyster technique, I dropped some water on this rose and gave it a try.  Not bad, but I still see room to improve.  I see a lot of uses for this technique, though.

THIS BUD'S FOR YOU

MONDAY'S IMAGE...

Trying out new techniques...Friday night we went to Feby's Fishery for dinner.  They have the absolute best oysters on the half shell.  After slurping them down, I noticed the shells were really pretty.  I stripped them clean of any muscle and popped them into a plastic bag that I had in my purse.  I see room for improvement, but not bad for a first effort.

SEARCHING FOR PEARLS

SUNDAY...

Ok.  I'm really bored with all this snow.  We can't really get out to do much, so I've been shooting inside.  The next few captures are from recent indoor work.

RED BALLS IN THE SNOW

SATURDAY'S IMAGE...

Something a little different.  Our own Marlboro Man.  This is Harry.  This picture was taken in 1983 in Tucson at a dude ranch on New Year/s Eve.  Harry and May, dear friends were staying in Tucson while we were exploring Arizona.  We spent the day on the dude ranch with them and had New Year's Eve dinner - Filet cooked on mesquite wood.  Yummy.  This picture was taken on film and Harry has been a good sport letting me bring it out every now and then.

HARRY, THE MARLBORO MAN

AND FOR LAST FRIDAY...

I took this photo because of the cactus reflected in the window.  But I found that I could get another use out of it.  Another photoshop rendition.

REFLECTIONS

THAT WAS WEDNESDAY'S...THIS IS THURSDAY'S...

More fooling around in photoshop.  This cactus photo was not the sharpest crayon in the box, but by fooling with it in photoshop, it's hard to tell that.  I really like the way this one came out.

SHE'S BACK...

It's true.  I've been away for awhile.  Life caught up with me and I just have too much going on to blog everyday.  I'm going to try to catch up so that I still end up with 365 dailies.

Another shot from the Dale Chihuly.  These are orange balloons that form a chandelier.  I was fooling around in Photoshop and came up with this rendition.

ANOTHER ALTERED IMAGE...

Walking through the Heard Museum, I found a very neat foyer area.  thought I'd have some fun with it.

AND THEN THERE WAS LADY LIBERTY

You almost have to do something different with the Statue of Liberty or it's just another picture.
Here is a treatment that I really liked.

Same light fixture, different treatment.

ELLIS ISLAND LIGHT FIXTURE II

MAKING UP FOR LOST TIME...

As you can tell by my lack of posting, I've had a busy weekend.  No time to even think about photography this past weekend.  Grocery shopping, RJ's birthday all day event, then neighbors for dinner, cooking and cleaning day.  So it's make up time once more.

I thought I'd post some altered images.  They are fun to do and I'm always surprised at the outcome.

ELLIS ISLAND LIGHT FIXTURE

Back in November, we took a trip to NYC with our local photography club.  Here are some of the pictures I took on that trip.  I thought this light fixture against the brick ceiling made an interesting capture.  So much so that I played around with it in Paint shop Pro.

ENOUGH WITH THE SNOW, ALREADY...

I'm sick of al this snow. Not a snow person, at all.  The snow is plowed so high that you can't see to get out of the driveways.  It will be months before it's gone.  I've decided that unless there's a spectacular picture waiting me somewhere out there, I'm going to ignore it.  It's not even there.  It's the only way I'll keep my sanity.

So here's a non-snow picture.  Back to the Dale Chihuly Handblown Glass exhibit.  This is a close up of a sculpture that is about 8 feet round.  It stands on a post of some sort, like a giant tree.  It's called "The Sun".

What an amazing artist.

THE SNOW QUEEN BALLET SET

This just reminds me of the Snow Queen ballet, or even Swan Lake.  We are in a meltdown state today.  It will ice up tonight and melt again tomorrow and the next day, and the next day.  Then it will snow again.  Mercy, Mercy.  What did we do to deserve this?

FROM THE BREEZEWAY...

I ventured out onto the breezeway to get some more snow shots.  Snow is too deep to walk through the yard.  It's still coming down but  I wanted to get the trees before the wind blew it all away.  It's a heavy lush snow.  We'll probably be losing electric at some point.  Governor has declared a State of Emergency for the second time in 3 days.  Can't be out on the roads.  Not that I would want to be out there.

SNOW STILL COMING DOWN...

ONE TRACK MIND...

Yes, that's right.  We're getting another Nor'easter tonight.  Were expecting anywhere from 10-24".  Our yearly total is already 56.5". We will break every record since records have been kept.  Lucky us.  Been in bed with a stomach bug all day, so I'm posting a picture from the last snow storm.  It's a pile of snow in the birdbath.  Poor birds won't be bathing for awhile.  I though the shadows from the Japanese maple were interesting.

TAKE THE DARN FLAG DOWN!!

This is the reason for it all, according to Dick.  If you put up a flag that has snow on it, snow will come.  He's suggested that we take down that darn flag.  So far this year we've had 56" of snow.  We're expecting another 12" or more tomorrow.  Maybe there's something to it.  Hmmmm....

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!! PART THREE

Just realized I didn't post of Friday either, so here's another snow picture.

THIS IS NOT A DEAD GUY
Dick's Snow Angel for 2010

Here's some background...Every year, at the first appreciable snowfall, since I was 16 years old, Dick has plopped down in the snow to prove he loves me.  About 15 years ago, he started making a snow angel, since he was down there anyway.  We have been married for 45 years.  That's a lot of snow angels and I have pictures of most of them (He always says, "OK get the camera, I'm only going to do this once.")  So this is Dick's snow angel for 2010.  What a guy!

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!! PART TWO

Here's another snow picture for today.

This Will Be Here Awhile

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!!

ONLY KIDDING!!!  We've had enough this winter, already.

I wondered around the yard today taking pictures of interesting snow things.  Since I didn't post yesterday, I'll post two today.

BLUE MOON - DALE CHIHULY

This is an up close and personal view of another Dal Chihuly glass sculpture called Blue Moon.  I love the way the glass swirls and the way it's constructed.  Tomorrow I'll treat you to the full view.

LAST ONE, I PROMISE...

Ok, it's late and this is all I have ready to post, so here it is.  More Desert Wildflower Tower.  Last shot of it, I promise.  I like the way it looks against the cloudless blue sky.  Skies are so darned beautiful in Arizona.  The brilliance of the glass shining in the sunshine was a real attraction, too.
I had a stressful day today, so I'm taking an easy out.  This one was ready to go.

Enjoy, one more time.

AS PROMISED...

Here is the original Desert Wildflower Tower from the Dal Chihuly exhibit, as promised.  As you can see, they are quite large.  Taller than me, actually.  Just imagine assembling one of these babies  Then transporting it across the country.  Dale must be a packing peanut manufacturer's dream customer, as his exhibits are on display across the country.  If you ever get a chance to see one, they are so worth the money.  And be sure to take a camera.

More Chihuly Glass

This next photo is an up close and personal of one of three towers of glass that were presented.  They were about 6' tall, each tower and in a group of 3.  He really does spectacular stuff.  And to think that some of his chandeliers are priced in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, just hanging out there in the desert.  Amazing...

Desert Wildflower Towers (sideways)

OK, so I always had a skewed vision of life.    I march to the beat of a different drummer.  Always did and always will.  Take me or leave me.

Maybe tomorrow I will treat you all to the real version.
