TrompeL'oeil Vatican Ceiling

The ceilings of the Vatican deserve a book of their own.  I would love to know the history behind all of them.  Everywhere you go, the ceilings are spectacular.  This particular one is done in Trompe L'oeil.  It covers a hallway that is probably 25 feet wide by 80 or so feet long.  I just captured a portion of it.  You look up and see these wonderful carvings all over the ceiling then suddenly realize that they are not carvings at all.  The ceiling is perfectly FLAT!!
