MISSING FOR 16 DAYS. Boy, do I have some making up to do. Two weeks ago, life happened and we were caught up in the whirlwind with no time to ourselves. So, here I am apologizing again. But I will post 16 pictures today and that will catch me up.
I'm going to start off with my children's art work. I know, I'm scraping the bottom of the photo barrel, but it's hard coming up with 16 pics, and even though my children are 45 and 39 years old, they are the loves of our lives and you probably weren't there for me to show you when they did them. So I saved them just for you.
This is my favorite picture of Marty's. I always thought it showed such imagination for a five year old. Snakes sliding down a ladder, frogs taking a shower on the elephant's back and sliding down the slide, a bird pulling the elephant in a wagon, being lead by a wagon full of peanuts. What fun.
Jordan, on the other had, is our abstract artist. Very modern. I have this on my computer desktop at work. People are always commenting on it. They think it's a piece of modern art that I downloaded. I just love the colors.
OK, that's enough of that.
Here are a few from Arizona.
ARCOSANTI - A community of volunteer artists who make Solieri's bells. These bells are made of clay, but he makes beautiful bronze bells with wonderful voices. It's a wonderful place to visit, especially on a windy day. Very creative place. A Scottsdale attraction.
A Solieri chandelier made of bronze. I believe there was a light fixture in the center also, but definitely made for outdoors.
This is the wall of out house in Arizona. The quails would always walk on the wall. The Papa would fly up on the wall and keep watch while the family ate. He was on hawk patrol. The Superstition Mountains are in the background.
I actually took this on from our neighbor's back porch. What a sunset view they get. Again the Superstitions. I love those mountains.
One more Chihuly. This one is called "The Moon". I love the way they have set in the natural desert. It is hard to tell, but this was probably 8 foot around. It was up on a support pole. All handblown glass. Probably took months to make.
The Grand Canoyn...what else can I say? Sunrise...6:15...The sprinkler systems turns on at 6:10. Unfortunately, we happened to be standing next to it when it turned on. October...42 degrees...Brrrrrr!
OK, so I was having dinner at Feby's Fishery. They have the absolute best oysters. They taste of the ocean. As I was eating them I realized that the shells would make a great photographic subject. So I wrapped them up and put them in my purse. Next thing I know they are sitting on my mirror in my studio set up. Remember, always shoot your food.
So, while the studio was set up, I ran over to Fresh Market and picked through the produce to find perfect specimens of fruit and veggies. It's hard to waste good light. The strawberries came out ok, but the artichokes was a waste. At $5 each I only bought one and it looked really stupid sitting there by itself. Next time I'll buy the pack of baby artichokes. I should have shot the strawberry dessert I bought, but there wasn't enough left to shoot.
Now we'll move on to flowers. I don't know what these are called, but they have little purple centers and they are so beautiful. And they make me think spring!! Five more days.
Hibiscus...I have a ways to go with flowers yet. I need to do some studio shooting and get a little more experienced with my lenses. I'm eager to see how much I will improve by doing this blog. Once the good weather is here I'll get out and get some more interesting things to post. For now, we are stuck with what I have done.
Straw Flowers. I love these plants. They bloom well into winter and will always leave some color when all others are long gone.
Spring...Spring...Spring...Johnny Jump-ups. Easter is just 2 weeks away and we still don't have anything blooming. Glad I have these shots to help me get through the transition.
OK...That's only 14 shots, but it's after 11:00 and I have to get to bed. Up at 5:30am. See you tomorrow with the rest.
